About Us
I.M.Engineering was established in 1992 to specialise in the manufacture of propshafts for a wide range of automotive and industrial applications. The business has grown steadily year by year benefiting from the careful management of its recources and an expedient purchasing policy for both equipment and materials. This has allowed the company to expand, improve its production methods, upgrade its machinery and produce products of the highest standard and quality.
Our wide range of specialised equipment and workshop facilities enable us to operate a complete machining and repair service for a variety of industry sectors. Our fully experienced staff can take care of any of your machining requirements including complete machinery overhaul and preventative maintenance programmes.
When damage or breakage occurs, repair or re-manufacture can be a cost effective alternative to original OEM replacement. We can provide these services to our customers along with welding, plating or reverse engineering techniques, all of which can be utilised to recover the component. All reverse engineering projects are welded and machined back to OEM sizes.

Hydraulic Cylinder Repair
When a hydraulic cylinder fails , you have two choices: buy a new cylinder or repair the old one. When you work with I.M.Engineering repairing your hydraulic cylinder is fast, easy and cost effective compared to replacing the entire cylinder. We believe that a quality cylinder is more than just a set of seals and a new paint job, we pride ourselves on our ability to return a cylinder to its original specifications “ The first time every time as an integral part of our quality process.

Propshafts
In this demanding sector, we understand that a broken propshaft could cause a serious problem on a busy site! To address this issue, we offer a speedy collection and delivery service where we repair or replace the faulty propshaft in the quickest possible time.
At IM Engineering, we have the ability to repair, manufacture and balance all propshafts – from small PTO propshafts right through the range as far as heavy Industrial, Mining and Earth-moving equipment.
Hydaulic Pump Repair
I.M.Engineering carry out repairs to hydraulic pumps for a wide range of customers which include Terex, Balfour Beatty Rail, Schweerbau rail, Serco rail and Northern Piling.
IMEngineering carry out repairs and overhauls to Blower units, Vaccum pumps, Transfer boxes, PTO boxes and Hydraulic motors for a wide range of customers which including; EEG Utilities, Clearwater, Balfour Beattie Rail, Serco Rail, Colas Rail, Loram Rail and Henderson Tankers.
We carry in stock exchange pumps and seal kits for certain applications. We started repairing pumps in 1996 when a customer of ours asked us to source an exchange pump for him because the main agent would not supply him with a new output shaft, after careful examination we were able to manufacture a new splined shaft, sourced a new set of seals and bearings we were able to supply him with a fully reconditioned pump at a third of the cost.
Since then we have purchased and adapted machines to meet the requirements of the above.
We conduct repairs and overhauls on any type of metal cased units including:
Transfer Boxes, Blower Units, Vaccum Pumps, PTO Units, Hydraulic Pumps and Hydraulic Gearbox Units.
Retaining Pins & Bushes
Manufacturing pins and bushes became part of our agenda to coincide with the amount of hydraulic ram cylinders we were repairing, as we were being asked to machine worn retaining eyes on cylinders it was imperative that we got the right size of bush before proceeding.
At times there was a delay getting these items from the customer or the manufacturer so inevitably the job would be held up. We decided that if we offered an alternative solution then it would speed up the process, we now offer a machining process for retaining pins and bushes, all pins are sent for a hardening process after machining before being ground finished to the original diameter.
Bronze and steel bushes are also manufactured in-house, we also supply precision and swivel bearings that are purchased from quality suppliers.
